Western Dreams – A Decade of Photography

Edward Douglas Dolde has been photographing landscapes of the American West for the last decade. His portfolio includes images from Arizona, California, Utah, and the Pacific Northwest. Doug captures his images with both an Arca Swiss Field 4×5 and a Contax 645 with a Leaf Aptus 75S 33 megapixel digital back. He was born in 1947 in South Bend, Indiana and currently lives in Payson, Arizona. Doug received a B.S. in mathematics from Indiana University in 1970. He now works as a full time pro photographer. Doug’s vision for landscape photography is simple and straightforward: to express the light, grandeur, and emotion he felt while viewing the scene via a photograph. His skill and craftsmanship in both image and printmaking as well as in making his own handcrafted hardwood frames is finely honed. Western Dreams is both a photographer’s travel guide and a technical resource, not to mention a stunning 103 image collection of the best of ten years work. Detailed locations for all images including USGS maps are given, and field notes are included. Many images include details on how the image was made especially if unusual conditions warranted special techniques. Advice is given on choosing a camera, and a section is included on the Digital Darkroom describing the tools Doug uses to process images.

Finger Lakes Panoramas

The Finger Lakes region of central New York is a place where light and water meet to create a distinctive look to the land that residents cherish and visitors return to again and again. To capture the wide, open beauty of the long lakes under changing skies and the surrounding hilly vistas, photographer Kristian Reynolds has found the perfect vehicle in a panoramic camera. Within the wide sweep of his lens, he presents images of dramatic gorges, picturesque villages, vivid weather patterns, fertile vineyards, classic boating scenes, and verdant countryside. This is a book for which lifetime lovers and newly initiated fans of the Finger Lakes have long waited, a book which reveals the best of the upstate landscape.

The book’s foreword is written by the Hon. Matthew F. McHugh, Counsel to the World Bank and former Upstate New York Member of Congress.
